Sterrenplaten: Vrijkaarten voor Colin Stetson & Stian Westerhus!

“Black holes awaits!” kirde zanger/gitarist Stian Westerhus onlangs op sociale media over 1017. 1017 is het gezamenlijke project van twee giganten uit de avant-garde jazz en experimentele muziek: Stian Westerhus en saxofonist Colin Stetson. Stetson, die al op zeer jonge leeftijd sax leerde spelen, heeft ondertussen een immense reputatie opgebouwd als een uitzonderlijk begaafde en innovatieve muzikant. Hij staat bekend om zijn eigenzinnige benadering van live-optredens. Zijn beheersing van circulaire ademhaling stelt hem in staat om minutenlang onafgebroken in zijn instrument te blazen. Zijn talent is al te bewonderen in een brede variatie aan media, want hij maakte al soundtracks voor talloze films, tv-series en zelfs videogames.

Stian Westerhus is net zo getalenteerd, en vooral bekend om zijn experimentele gitaarstijl. Al meer dan twintig jaar loopt de Noor voorop in zijn generatie en verlegt hij grenzen. Zijn expressieve spel en stem verbrijzelen vooroordelen over elektrische gitaar en zang, en verleiden zowel publiek als critici.

We hoorden nog geen noot van 1017, maar dat verandert op zaterdag 16 december wanneer beide heren in de Botanique staan. Wordt heel uniek, niet te missen. Sterrenplaten mag zelfs duotickets uitdelen aan luisteraars. Nu vrijdag vanaf 21u naar Radio Scorpio via 106fm (Leuven) of www.radioscorpio.be (wereldwijd) luisteren is de boodschap.
