In de reeks Sterrenplaten-mixtapes in 2020 krijgen we na Bill Nace, Gong Gong Gong, Susan Alcorn, Širom, Daniel Bachman, The Homesick, Steve Palmer, Objects & Sounds en HARRGA deze vrijdag Dylan Henner virtueel over de vloer. Henner is een jonge Britse ambient-artiest die dit jaar al 3 geweldige albums releaste: ‘Flues of Disappearing Sand‘ (op het Gentse Dauw), ‘A Dingo Crossing a Stream‘ (op Inner Islands) en ‘The Invention of the Human‘ (op AD 93). In “The Invention of The Human” stelt hij zichzelf de vraag “what makes us human?”.
Voor deze mix stelt hij zich dan weer de vraag: What is a mix?:
“What is a mix? Is it a window into the creative life of the curator – an expression of the reason they follow the pursuits they do? Do I like this music because of the music I make, or do I make the music I make because I like this music? Or is it an offering to the listener? “Here, here’s something you might enjoy!” Or is it selfish? Have I used the work of these musicians’ in a completely wrong context to try to tell my own story? What have I made here, really?”
