Cyrus Pireh werd geboren in Hoffman Estates, Illinois; Hij studeerde viool, elektrische gitaar, saxofoon en percussie, maar compositie, muziektheorie en elektro-akoestische muziek. We volgen Cyrus al jaren, hij werkte onder meer samen met Honduras en Alan Courtis, en releaste vorig jaar met ‘Still Here, Still Ripping‘ (Astral Editions) en ‘Visitor‘ (Artist Pool / Shinkoyo) twee prachtplaten.
Een lang verhaal kort: We zij redelijk fier dat Cyrus Pireh een 90 minuten mixtape maakte voor Sterrenplaten en we mogen ze deze week mogen laten horen. Luisteren komende vrijdag van 21u-22u30 (CET) is de boodschap, via Radio Scorpio op 106FM, www.radioscorpio.be, of eender welke radio-app.
Over de mixtape geeft ze het volgende mee:
“I wanted to put together some music from friends and collaborators, some of which is new (as in the tracks from Dave Scanlon, Matt Robidoux, and Lucas Brode & G. Calvin Weston) and some of which is old, but has continued to play in my memory. The line from improvisaiton to jazz to techno is running through all these works. Listening to them makes me excited to make more music. I hope they generate excitement for you as well!”
